What you need to study with us
We aim to make learning as accessible as possible by providing a flexible and convenient study experience. To keep things simple, all you need to get started is a laptop or desktop PC (ideally running the latest version of Windows) and a reliable internet connection. Through iLearn, our comprehensive cloud-based campus, you will have 24/7 access to your course calendar, support services, and an extensive online library containing thousands of e-books. The platform also features integrated tools designed to help you create assignments, manage your study notes, and collaborate seamlessly with other students on your course.
Entry Requirements
To join the BSc (Hons) Psychology programme, you can choose from several flexible entry pathways designed to recognize both academic achievement and professional potential. The standard academic route typically requires two GCE A-Level subjects (or equivalent) along with three GCSE passes at Grade C/4 or above. If you prefer a more gradual introduction to university-level study, Blended Learning students also have the option to start with an integrated Foundation Year, which provides extra academic scaffolding before moving into the full degree.
We also highly value applicants who bring real-world insights to their studies. If you do not meet the standard academic criteria, you can apply via our non-standard entry pathway if you meet one of the following:
12 months of relevant work experience that involved critical thinking and analytical skills (evidenced by a CV and professional references).
Three GCSE passes at Grade C/4 or above (or academic equivalent), along with a CV if relevant.
For those who may feel less confident with numbers, we have developed a specialized Everyday Maths for Social Sciences module. We strongly encourage you to complete this, as it is specifically designed to prepare you for the data analysis and research methods, such as statistics and probability, used throughout the psychology degree.
Regardless of which path you take, all candidates must submit a Personal Statement (350–500 words). This is your opportunity to "pitch" yourself by addressing your motivation for the program, your relevant prior experience, and how your qualifications have prepared you for the scientific study of the mind.
